Today was the last day of the New York Tabletop Market. I was able to squeeze in and see a few things before everyone packed up and left. From Rosenthal's whimsical, spring display of flowers and butterflies to Hermes' sophisticated Deco glam, it was lovely. I was able to snap a pictures of a few highlights.

Wedgewood

Royal Albert - Super traditional, this makes me want to brew a pot of Earl Grey

I love the shape of this Hermes plate from the Rallye 24 collection.

Hermes : Rallye 24 - inspired by the racetrack

Donna Karan Lenox

Furstenberg Treasure Teapot

While this isn't exactly tabletop, it is a table. I saw this while in the Ralph Lauren showroom and loved it.

Ombre is undoubtedly pleasing to the eye and has been popping up everywhere. From manicures and hair, to baking, fashion, and now interiors. I am starting to think that maybe there could be a place for it in one of our future jobs!

Ombre cakes, cookies, and other sweets look and taste delicious! Image from here

Ombre Nails. Sort of dying to try this!! Image from here

Ombre Guest Towel From Dransfield and Ross

A few nights ago, I met some of my friends at a hip new restaurant in the Flatiron District. As soon as I walked in, I knew it was a fellow designer that suggested we go to Maysville. Everything about this restaurant/bourbon bar is warm. The atmosphere, the orangey brown color palette and the glowing bourbon bottles behind the bar. It is named Maysville after the town in Kentucky which is said to be the birthplace of bourbon. The sketched horses are a clear reminder of Kentucky while the lighting design is slightly more obscure. The patterns created by the lights on the ceiling create a replica of an aerial view of the Maysville tobacco fields. Definitely worth a visit!

I know I'm about a year late, but I had dinner at Crown the other night and was reminded how pretty the space it. These pictures don't do it justice because in the evening the room is dimly lit and has such a pretty romantic feel. It really doesn't feel like anything else uptown. I'm happy to be a few blocks from it while staying in NY and I know it will become my go to for a cozy drink at the bar or a fun dinner with friends. It is open for lunch on Sunday so I will have to pop in then to see the space by day.

Recently I went for a long walk around my neighborhood. After emerging from the park, I wound up by the Henry Hudson river. I was pleasantly surprised to discover the new hotspot restaurant, La Marina. The open floor plan and gorgeous views of the river made wish for 80 degree weather and a drink with a little umbrella in it. I am apparently one of the last people to discover this beautiful place as it is typically packed with local patrons and celebrities. Even though I was there on a brisk afternoon, it was easy to imagine the sprawling outdoor area full of freshly tanned New Yorkers with the sun cooling on their skin as it sank down into the river.

Last night I ventured into my old borough: Brooklyn. A friend of mine was having a birthday gathering at the ever cool Hotel Delmano. Insiders know Hotel Delmano in Williamsburg is not a hotel at all but a speakeasy style bar. I was blown away with the place. With the small size, cozy rooms and narrow space I felt like I was in turn of the century Amsterdam. Even the bathrooms were charming! I recommend this place with it's tapas, raw bar and delectable cocktails if you're ever in the mood for some atmosphere and light Brooklyn fare.

We are officially in Spring and I love it! I'm back in LA only to return to NYC again next week and I have my fingers crossed I will miss the last of the chilly weather. I'm spending Easter with family next weekend and have started to think about how I might do the table. People tend to associate Easter with pastels which can, when done well, be very pretty but it can also go dreadfully wrong and feel dated. I don't think there is any reason to shy away from bright colors when planning you spring tables. Here is an assortment of pretty tablescapes I found, some bright and some more muted.

I'm crazy for the mix of flowers on this table

More bright colors, but I love it. It almost has an Indian feel, and well I love anything Indian.

I want to plan my wedding all over again just so I can do this!! Calling all brides make a note of this!

Pretty in Pink!
