In any project that we take on, Rugs are always a huge part of the budget. Bottom line is they are just expensive. As you can probably tell by now Georgia and I are huge fans of the rugs at West Elm. For the look and feel they are priced so well.
We often turn to Restoration Hardware as well. Especially for stock and easy to order sisal rugs. In the past year or so they have added gorgeous stocked rug options by Ben Soleimani. These are, however, quite pricey.
The Dara Rug sells for $1595 for a 5'x7' and $6295 for a 10' x 14'. The Souk Rug from West Elm gives a similar look for a much lower price point. The 5'x8' is $499 and the 9'x12' is $1299.

I have had a long love affair with chaise lounges and am I always trying to slip them into furniture plans for our clients. Great vintages ones are the best, but often I fall for the ones that break the bank. The other day while on the Oly Studio website I was very happy to discover the above chaise! I think its a great option if you aren't in the market for a serious antique. They offer a variety of fabrics or you can supply your own. I thought this was a great find!

Last week I was stopped into Siglo Moderno on Melrose and came across an incredible line of marble furniture by an Italian company. Most of the pieces are available in the white marble you see here and a black marble. I was particularly crazy for the marble dining table. I wish I had a place for it. The company behind the line is Marsotto Edizioni. They are a family run company that has been around for many years, the younger generation came out with this great line of more contemporary pieces. Shown here is only a small sampling, the line is actually quite large. I can't wait to find a place to use some of it!

School House Electric has its own take on the this light, in its Princeton Wall Sconce. Prices starting at $199!!

When most people hear shag (if they aren't British) something along the lines of the image above comes to mind. I actually kind of love it, but understand if you don't, its probably a little much for most people. I get obsessions every now and again and my latest is shag and flokati rugs and accessories. Maybe its my nesting instinct that is causing me to want everything soft and fluffy who knows, but I have been on the hunt for all things fluff recently! Check out some images and items to purchase below!

Little flokati benches add some zip to an otherwise simple living room

One little piece of fluff in an otherwise sleek office

Love the poufs. Scroll down to purchase similar ones

The room still feels light and airy despite this big wool rug

These West Elm pillows come in 4 sizes and several colors. I ordered a rectangular white one for the daybed in my nursery

West Elm Pillows available on their website

I love this Flokati Pouf available for $199 at Pottery Barn. Ignore white snappy chic pillow on top of it!

Flokati Rug from www.flokati.com available in multiple colors weights and sizes. These won't break the bank and you can even buy the lightest weight to upholster a chair or back with a soft fabric and make a blanket!

I know Dwell Studio is nothing new and for all you designers you are probably already aware of it. I think they began primarily as a bedding company, but over the last few years they have introduced upholstery and furniture. I think the tables and case pieces are the newest additions and I just think they are great! Here are a few of my favorites. They have a new shop in Soho that I am going to have to check out.

This is the same table above and below in different finishes.

Love this oval coffee table

A great chandelier can really amp up a room. However, this item does not need to break the bank. Below are two unique and fun chandelier options for under $200.

I came across this collection of wallpapers on Anne Spiro's blog Absolutely Beautiful Things and I couldn't resist sharing. I love the blog and suggest you check it out if you don't already know it. Anne owns a shop in Australia and just came out with this line of papers through Porters Prints. I need to see if they will send samples to the states, I am told they will. I particularly love the paper in the photograph above. Enjoy!

I was clicking around the Elle Decor website the other day when this red settee caught my eye. Much to my surprise this adorable red bench was from West Elm and is part of a new collection the big box retailer is rolling out. They are partnering with a range of South African furniture and accessory designers to create a limited line of products to be carried in the stores and online. The collection becomes available June 12th and they will continue rolling out new pieces over the next month. The line is slightly pricier than what you would typically find at West Elm, but I think its worth it because the stuff is so good looking! Here are a few images of my favorites.

It's hard to believe but there are two babies on board at Carolina George. This has us discussing nursery decor quite a bit these days. Our conversations often turn to cribs. I did some scouring and came up with a few of my favorites.

Kalon Caravan Crib. $695. Made in the USA and Green!! You can chose from six colors

Duc Duc Campaign Crib also Green and a toddler conversion kit is available. Priced from $1795-1995

David Netto Designed Crib available through Maclaren $1595

A Splurge at $3500. The Hollis Crib (namesake is Charles Hollis Jones) available through Giggle.com

The Studio Crib Available through Nursery Works. $2100 with a $280 toddler conversion kit.
I think this last crib is especially clever. You know we love anything multi-functional and what a great way to make the most of a piece of furniture and that usually only last a year or so.

Anyone that reads this blog or knows me well (hopefully if you know me well you also read the blog) knows about my obsession with plaster furniture. I'm a sucker for the really good stuff from the 1940's, but I also like a deal and when shopping for myself I don't have $1000s to throw at plaster furniture, sigh. I have been meaning to write about Stray Dog Designs for awhile now. I used to carry some of their products in my shop, back when I like to think no one had really heard of them. They have made a name for themselves by designing products for West Elm and most of the line was featured in the home section at Bergdorfs. They work in metal and papier mache. Here is a selection of the papier mache pieces that have a plaster look and feel that I love. Not only are their pieces affordable, but they are also made from recycled materials by artists in Haiti and Mexico, so you are doing a little bit of good when you purchase from them!
I tend to like the pieces in the white, but they offer an array of colors and for a small fee you can give them any Benjamin Moore paint color. For more info check them out at www.straydogsdesigns.com.

One of my favorite designers is Steven Gambrel, if you read this blog you probably already know that. I'm often drawn to things he has designed himself for various projects. So I was very excited to see that he is designing a line of lights for Urban Electric. The line will be available in June so at the moment there are only a few available images. I can't wait to try and use some of these for clients!

Ok I couldn't resist another one of these lust vs. must posts. I just have to share a deal when I find one. Everyone loves these bistro chairs you can buy them in a gazillion colors and they work everywhere, well almost everywhere. However, the good ones aren't cheap. The chair below is an authentic bistro chair which will set you back about $800.00 and usually you need more than one so you are looking at close to $5000 for a set of 6. Needless to say I was happy to come across the above version from Serena and Lily, that when you buy more than one, are $175 each ($198 for just 1). They only come in the blue and white is the downside, but I thought it was a pretty good knock off! Disclaimer I haven't seen the cheaper version in person, but you can always send it back if they don't work out.

Marc Bankowsky is a talented designer from Paris and his products are sold at Maison Gerard in Greenwich Village. He works primarily in metal and plaster and you can custom order as well. For a new project we are using at least one of his designs and I just love his work!

I just adore these leaf shaped gold sconces!

Again, the legs on this bench can be custom ordered as a coffee table.

So I came across another Lust vs. Must that I had to share! This one I actually discovered a few months ago when I was in West Elm and it didn't occur to me to do a post on it until now. One of my favorite lights is the Serge Mouille 3-Arm Ceiling fixture. Design Within Reach has the license to the Mouille Collection and does several interpretations of the original 1958 floor lamp. Urban Archaeology also does several variations on it. I have always loved this light and we recently used it in a project over a dining table. It is certainly an investment piece so for those of you who aren't ready to commit to serious light fixture, but love the look I have the answer! The West Elm Long Arm Chandelier. It is available in Black and White for a mere $299.00. I have seen it in person and its quite good looking. The only drawback is that it is quite a bit smaller than the original. If it were me and I wanted it for over a longer dining table I would do two and you still aren't breaking the bank.

The other day I was in Anthropologie and these patchwork chairs caught my eye. Friends often ask where they can find affordable dining chairs and I usually direct them to some of the big box stores like West Elm and then suggest if they want to personalize the chair a bit they have a cushion made. However, often people don't want to go thru the effort, so I was happy to discover these chairs that for only $198 offer people something a little more special. They of course do not work everywhere, its a specific look, but if you can make it work I think they are great deal! I actually think they would be fun in a very spare white dining room with this as the only color!

In a previous post I shared some inspirations for my terrace with you. Since then I have been busy sources the perfect items for my urban oasis. I came across a few cute and space conscious planters that I thought I would share with you.

The Pot Cavalier by AZ&MUT slings over a terrace railing which makes it the perfect small space solution!

The other day I while clicking around I came across this rug source, unfortunately they are based in Quogue, NY about 2 hours outside of NYC. One of the things I thought was great is that they are not to the trade only which is I always think is nice. All patterns are available in a Dhurri or if you're in the market you can have it done in silk. They will custom color all styles and work with you on your own patterns. The Dhurries start at $30 a square foot. I look forward to checking it out! Below are just a few of the patterns I thought were great.

While perfusing Lonny over the weekend I stumbled across a small feature they did on a company called Cuff Home based in Los Angeles. It was love at first sight. I raced to their website to see the whole line. Unfortunately, I don't think they have a store where I can view it all in person, hopefully a showroom of some sort. Although the line only consists of about 12 pieces each one is fabulous. I can't wait to see what they add to the line over time. I already have spots for half these things picked out.
Don't you love the above light fixture? I would love to see these down a hallway or one in a dressing room. They can customize anything as well which is always great. Here are some of my favorites.

Romp Wrapped Light Fixture. This is perfect for one of our Florida projects.

Stacked Console. This is what first caught my eye, I just love it!!
