Going Green
Mon, 2011-11-07 12:20 | by Caroline

Green has always been one of my favorite colors. There is something so fresh and crisp about green. Below are some images that I found of green interiors. Enjoy!

The next two pictures are from my old apartment. When I purchased the apartment, the floors were beat up and quite boring. Replacing them was not in the budget so instead I decided to stain them a shade darker than kelly green. It really gave the place a unique look.

Color in Design: Pretty in Pink
Mon, 2011-10-24 17:30 | by Caroline

I never considered myself a pink girl. Always the tomboy, I typically gravitate towards blues, both in terms of home decor and fashion.  As I was planning my wedding however, I became obsessed with pink flowers of all hues. This has seeped into my personal tastes for home decor as well. For one client we are doing the prettiest shade of blush for her walls and windows. I can't wait to see how it turns out. I love how pink can be used to express a variety of styles. From soft and serene to edgy and powerful, I am starting to come around to the endless possibilities of pink in home decor. Unfortunately I don't think my husband feels the same way....

Summer Reading
Tue, 2010-07-20 18:45 | by Caroline

One of my favorite things about Summer is lying about on the weekends and catching up on my reading.  Color: A Natural History of the Palette, by Victoria Finlay has made a prominent appearance in my rotation.  The book itself is as vivid and gorgeously written as its cover illustration.  While i am a collector and lover of books, I have recently run out of space in my cramped Manhattan apartment. After picking up an IPad, i pledged to myself that I would no longer purchase paperback books unless their packaging was something special. The cover of this book is just gorgeous!

What lies beneath the cover is equally as beautiful.  Color is at once informative and intriguing.  Did you know that green is not really green but rather the way a surface absorbs rays of light? Finaly's quest for the origins of color's uses throughout the ages brings the reader around the world and back in time.
