Over time I have collected images of black rooms, doors, and moldings. When done well, there is something so chic and sophisticated about a black room. Even if you are not sold on painting an entire room black, covering the interior doors and moldings of your home in a high-gloss black lacquer (like my friend Lilly www.lillysnotebook.com) can really elevate the look and feel of a space.

The two images below take the idea of black moldings and doors and turn it around. I particularly like this idea when coupled with great art in white frames.

One of the best things about the color black is that it looks fantastic when paired with bright and interesting colors. In the image below, Steven Gambrel achieves an enlightened approach to the use of black with his pairing of citron on the ceiling.
